Join us for the sound and joyful power of the season, given voice in a world of cultures. The World Christmas, unique to the Dundarave Festival of Lights, celebrates the richness of Canada's cultural diversity. From the Francophone roots of our country, to the heat of Mariachi and foot stomping Celtic chords, the World Christmas brings you the season as you may have never seen it before. Set in our bright forest of Christmas trees, this afternoon of fabulously festive and absolutely free concerts speaks to the true spirit Christmas: a season of mirth, music and joy that leaves no one out in the cold. Here's a taste of what you'll find.
Barre La Porte
Every chord of Barre La Porte speaks to almost half a millennium of Christmas in Canada. Magnificently French Canadian to its core, Barre La Porte brings to the Festival Longhouse the folk songs that lifted spirits at the very formation of our country, the stories of trial, joy and love that will help us carry Canada through the 21st century.
Mariachi Los Dorados
Time to set aside those silver bells for something more, well, mariachi. Los Dorados brings you the lush and layered, exuberant and beautifully human sound of a sleek, sultry and joyful Christmas. The Dundarave Festival is proud to see the return of this vast and spectacular orchestra to the Festival Longhouse.
North Shore Celtic Ensemble
Making its debut to the Festival Longhouse, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble is set to bring a muse of fire to your Christmas. With energy and a creative genius second to none, this ensemble will put a spring in your step through the rest of the season, beating back the longest nights of the year with a soul stirring Celtic heat.
Concordia
Celebrating its 35th season this year, Concordia brings to the Festival Longhouse the bright harmonies and uplifting lyrics of Germany's ancient folk songs. Concordia brings the heritage of Handel, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Bach to the beautiful shores of Dundarave Beach.
